Editorial policy
Open Rugby Journal aims to make rugby easier to understand without making the game sound simpler than it is. Our editorial work values clear explanations, careful wording and visible distinctions between fact, interpretation and promotion.
Accuracy and context
We check explanations against reliable material available to us and give enough context for readers to understand what a term or sequence means. Rugby laws and competition formats can change or vary by setting, so we avoid implying that one account covers every code, level or circumstance. Where a detail is uncertain, we say so or leave it out.
Independence
Editorial decisions are made for reader interest and clarity. A commercial relationship does not buy favourable coverage or editorial approval. Partner contributions and placements are kept distinct from independent editorial material, and promotional content is labelled clearly.
Corrections
If a factual passage is wrong or materially unclear, we review the point and amend the article when warranted. Readers can use the Contact page to identify the article and passage and explain the issue. Corrections should improve the record, not obscure what changed.
Images and illustrations
Some illustrations may be generated with AI. They are used as illustrations, not as documentary proof of a match, player or event. Captions and surrounding text should not imply that an illustrative image records a real occasion.
The game is easier to follow when you know what to watch.
Open Rugby Journal takes a close, unhurried look at rugby: its moving parts, its language and the life that gathers around the match.
